The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! turns any Moto Mod-compatible phone into a modern reincarnation of the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (a phone that I once personally owned!) and will soon be available for $99.

Motorola’s Z series of phones have a connector on the back that allows you to attach Moto Mods add-on modules like a big battery, a speaker, a projector, and a fancier camera, and a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Motorola has been working with third-party companies to develop new Moto Mods, and this keyboard is one of the results of that program.

Aside from the added thickness, the one downside I notice off the bat is that with the keyboard mod attached to the back of the phone, you have to slide the keyboard open in order to use the camera.

This is relevant to my interests! I miss keyboard phones and think they are more relevant now than ever. I’ve personally owned a Droid 4, Droid 3, HTC TouchPro 2 and... at least one other I can’t think of. I miss them...

Sadly, I’m pretty smitten with my LG G5 for the moment so probably not worth changing phones over.

omg this looks right up my alley. After years of fighting against autocorrect I want an actual keyboard on my phone. What are the specs on this? What phones can I use it on? I’m pretty ready to ditch my iPhone and it seems like Android is the only decent alternative?

I still miss my Xperia mini pro.

Virtual keyboards just don’t cut it.

I still have it, but no app will run on it

The Moto Z series of phones (there are several models) has a connector on the back where you can attach different Moto Mods , that are held on with magnets. This is a prototype of the keyboard:

i used to have a T-Mobile a while before I took to BlackBerrys. I’m using a KeyONE now, other than having issues with music files (which isn’t a big issue really) I love it.

If you’re looking for the cheapest way to get in on the action, the original Moto Z Play is down to $269 at B&H . This is the unlocked GSM-only version.

Unfortunately, I had nothing but bad luck with the Moto Z Force. Two phones, one without working NFC, both without working BT. When the digitizer died on my second one, I had decided that enough was enough. As such, I went back to LG for the G6. So far, no regrets.

I may go back to Moto at some point since I do own a few mods (JBL speaker, extended battery). But for the meantime, a keyboard isn’t enough to draw me back in.

I really liked my Moto X Pure and I still like their lower-end models (my wife has a G5 Plus) but the mods don’t appeal to me and the feature mix on the Z series doesn’t line up with what I want in a phone. I tried an LG V20 and found it extremely irritating so I ended up with a Galaxy S7 Edge.

Thanks for the info, I’m definitely going to look into this.

That enter key has awful placement. I’d make it only one column wide and use the extra space to give the keyboard more breathing room for keys to press.

If you removed the part of the enter key below the delete key without changing the overall size of the keyboard, how would that make any more room for the other keys? All you’d gain is a spot to put one more key below delete.

Honestly, the functionality of delete could be removed, and moved to shift-backspace. While a little counter-intuitive, it actually makes sense (at least to me) because holding shift while pressing certain control keys (tab, space) inverts the direction they go in.

Even if you removed the delete key the only way to create more room (in the form of wider keys and/or wider gaps between the columns) is if you got rid of an entire column of keys.

Yeah I know about this one. Thing is I want a portrait slider.

Horizontal slider is good for remoting and terminals, but day to day messaging a portrait is better.
